In his book, Clarke claims that Iraqis were up to something in the Sudan - Shifa. At the same time, Clarke claims that, the bin Laden (openly) and the Sudan (less openly) were looking to obtaining chemical weapons. He still maintains that a chemical - only used by the Iraqis, and only used in the production of Iraqi VX was found by U.S. agents in the Sudan (confirmed by an outside, reputable laboratory). Thus the bombing of the drug plant in the Sudan. He goes on to say that a captured al Qaeda operative claimed, that his job was to monitor al Qaeda's development of chemical weapons in the Sudan.

I'm not sure how he resolves his claim that Iraqis were involved in the proliferation of chemical weapons (and in a factory the Clinton Administration had tied to bin Laden), and the complaint that the Bush Administration repeatedly tried to link Iraq with bin Laden. Maybe, Clarke believes that the Iraqis involved with the development of chemical weapons in the Sudan were free agents - former Iraqi WMD scientists.

Could it be, that Clarke is where President Bush came up with the argument of: How terrible it would be if Iraq either gave WMDs or helped terrorists develop WMDs.

Perhaps by opening up Clarke's prior testimony in closed session will resolve all of these unanswered questions.

I'm only interested in the truth. The denials and righteous indignation effect on the part of the left is a cya tactic.
