The 911 Commission and the Press is giving Mr Clark all the rope he wants.

We had cow pastured once on a long chain, and she disappeared along with the chain.

Took us hours to find her. Found her in a swamp with the chain wrapped around some willows, and up to her neck in a mudhole about to go under and drown.

>>"I'm still waiting to hear what comes of Sen Frist's efforts to declassify Clarke's 2002 testimony. The protests that Clarke was either lying then or is lying now, one or the other, have a genuine sound to me. Clarke's response that he was working for the administration back then is not going to cut it, since he was under oath both times."<<

Senator Bob Graham, a leading member of that committee has said that he is very much in favor of releasing that testimony. I believe he said something like bring em on.
Well let's bring em on now that Frist has given himself all that rope.

But then what will it all mean?......Cheney told Limbaugh (btw, isn't Limbaugh under investigation for illegal trafficking in drugs?) that the Head of WH Counterterrorism was out of the "loop" on the WH counterrroism plans so what could he possibly have told the congressional committee about the WH plans for counterterrorism that had any value?

Did we live through the same year 1998? I think Clinton was pretty obsessed with not getting impeached during that year. Obsession with Al Qaeda was much more difficult to spot. Certainly he didn't order any response to the embassy bombings beyond a short-lasting cruise missile bombardment.

You need to do your homework. Read the books. Look at what he tried to do; what was recommended to him; and what he did not do. You don't have to agree with it; but you certainly need to take the evidence into account.

Let me put it this way. I don't care what anyone now says about Clinton's feelings.

If is, of course, not about his feelings. But what he and his administration did and did not do. They were certainly not blameless; no one is, certainly not in hindsight. But did pursuing Al Q become their top priority after 98. There is nothing that suggests it did not. Was pursuing Al Q the top priority of the Bush folk from January of 01 to 9-11. Clearly not. There may well be understandable reasons for that. But they've chosen not to argue it that way; rather to argue that it was their top priority. When clearly the paper trail cannot support that argument.

I'm still waiting to hear what comes of Sen Frist's efforts to declassify Clarke's 2002 testimony.

Actually, let's hope that's successful. That they declassify all of his testimony; not just short snippets pulled out of context. Let's hope that declassify all the testimony before the congressional committee with the least possible deletions. Then we can all see.

If they fail to do that, if they only declassify small portions of Clarke's testimony, we will know what is happening. More of the cover up. And that's their problem. The cover up.
