There is a new hyjack that has infiltrated my computer and my sisters. We are hooked to the same router using cable for our connections. Could the router be infected ?

It is http:www.64.246.44.82/

It arrived when I got double clicked on Internet Explorer and my hotmail would not come up. I got that page that says refresh etc. However, that did not work and the only way I could access hotmail was to type it in on the Address bar. Then all of a sudden there was this hyjack in my toolbar by the Start button. It prevented my home page from coming up and has taken over as my homepage. It will not let you have a homepage... the usual way one gets one..Internet Tools etc. I have had help from the Cow on this Board private messages as I did not want to take up anyones time with this problem and he is very knowledgeable as we all know.

However I spent the week-end using Spyware,Adware,Hijack by Tom Coyote where I registered but then didn't know where to post my message which was ascertained to be ten infected files. I scanned my C Drive with the softward from Adware I had downloaded. So all these files came up and I had to choose which ones to delete and of course I would not know which to choose so I had copied and was ready to paste on the Coyote Site but no place came.

Now, I called a technician and they want $90.00 to get rid of this for me. I just bought this computer, am in my seventies and not computer savy like you youngsters out there. Also, living on SS and pension so am not ready after just having purchased this new laptop to have another expense.

I need to know a few things: Can anyone simplify how to remove this hyjack . Will it spread ? Can I wait until May when I go to N.C. where a technician even comes to your home and charge $ 30.00 or will clean up your entire hard drive for a hundred and get rid of all junk.

Right now it just comes up once I get online. Also, one technician told me this hyjack comes through MSN Messenger which I deleted from ADD and REMOVE... Now, I have no IM..and I did use it. The Cow recommended I reinstall it and I worry about whether to do that.

All these questions. Sorry to take up so much room and time.

TIA and thanks to the Cow for all his support.
