Kenneth,
Pro, we are having a "booming economy" so why is the deficit growing even faster than the economy? The answer is we have a long term structural budget deficit caused by the Bush tax cuts.

We do have an improving economy. There is a war going on. Bush's tax cuts turned the economy around to where it is improving. The stock market took off after Bush cut taxes.

It will be a lot worse if a tax and spend liberal was having to pay off his voters.
