Here's Dell's problem. The complaints you read here are probably a very small percentage of the machines Dell ships without a complaint. But, you will rarely hear from the customers who are satisfied. It's the customers that have a poor experience that spread the word and tarnish Dell's image. Why they don't understand or don't seem to care is an unfortunate policy where someone in management is prioritizing cost reduction over customer satisfaction and goodwill.

Ex-INTCfan,

Why would you have gone to gateway as opposed to any other manufacture? All customer satisfaction polls over the past few years have come to the conclusion that ALL hardware makers are experiencing slightly more negative ratings, but DELL still is better than average. Its not one arm bandit odds that you'll get a good experience from DELL; its very likely, and its more likely that you'll get better customer support from DELL than others. Experiences like yours are on the rise, but still, compared to the huge number of satisfied customers, are a minority.

I've been waiting 4 months for a $100 dollar rebate from Gateway on a 13 inch TV purchase. I was told their computer systems were down for a few weeks and rebate forms were not sent. How ironic. Ten phone calls and hours on hold; no check yet. Next will be a trip to my county small claims office.

Are you going to change your name to Ex-DELLfan?

Cheers,
kaka
