"It's called nation building. It's not easy.. It's something Bush claimed he didn't want to be involved in. But it's the only thing that is going to effectively fight and defeat the Islamic Militant death cults seeking to dominate the region."

I think a more practical solution is hunting down and killing terrorists and suspected terrorists.

That's if you're an invader with the intent to colonize. But that clearly is not the role the US, or more importantly, the American public would permit.

Hawk, the US hasn't try to "colonize" in the sense of permanent occupation. At least excepting of course the North American continent and Hawaii, and a few other strategically placed islands. The US method is to establish proxy govts of locals who are friendly to US corporate interests. This is what was done throughout central America, the Caribbean, parts of South America, and parts of Asia. It is why many in Central America in particular, who have been the most common recipients of this modus operandi, have an intense distrust of the US govt even as they love beisball, cowboys, I Love Lucy and America in general.

No time today to elaborate on this, but perhaps I will get back to it (if it is necessary to do so) later on.

Oh, we were invaders with intent to Nation Build not to colonize. Did you check the floor plans on the "Embassies" we are building? And, follow the money. Who printed all the new Iraqi currency and who controls the Iraqi Financial system?

<It's generally a place we're not going to be inclined to remain in any longer than necessary> Necessary for what? To extract all the oil? To launch invasions on other middle eastern countries? To kill all the Islamo-fascist-baby-killing-sadistic-satan-worshiping terrorists?
