<reality> The reality is that democracy only flourishes when people have a chance to be educated. Our schools are full of students from all over the world -- although these students feel far less welcome today under Bush than they have in the past. When we educate the world we advance the cause of freedom and democracy. That is an accomplishment the whole world applauds and respects. And it gives us enormous influence around the world. But when we unilaterally bomb, invade, kill, occupy and sustain military and economic control over other countries, we lose respect and influence as well as destroying the prospects for peace and democracy. We play a role in creating the terrorism that plagues us -- we are part of the problem. We can be part of the solution -- but in Iraq we have wasted lives, money and the goodwill of the rest of the world.
