Wow. I think if you get 20 responses to your query, you'll get 20 different multi use printer ideas. I've got a 2 1/2 year old Canon MultiPass F50 that scans, prints, copies and faxes. The prints and copies are excellent. Very few problems.

I happen to prefer Canon and Epson's stuff, although HP is coming right along. I don't like Lexmark, but these are just my personal preferences.

As far as new models go, I couldn't tell you. I think each manufacturer comes out with at least three new ones a month....hard to keep up.

I been using a HP Photosmart Printer for almost two years, excellent quality photos, good prints in draft mode. Inks are pricey, but you have to find a re-filler to cut your cost. Also using an AGFA Snapscan, again no problems, can be
hard to find, as has been replaced by newer model.

If you're looking to print the photos on regular paper instead of photo paper the epson c84 has good reviews.
