Holly, I went back to about half-way into the thread to the round number of post 10000 and scanned thru the first hundred posts thereafter. It's a good sample of the fun and wit and civility of Then vs. the bitterness and hate and nastiness that seem to be so prevalent in political threads of Now.

Say, while you were traipsing around the back pages of SI, did you run across the thread where Janice and I, umm, 'discovered' Bilbo the basset hound? He was a noble hound, but I've forgotten where we left him. And don't you ever believe the lies X and Rambi tell about him. They're simply bitter. Unrequited passion and all that.
