I cannot help but be moved by the recounting of recent events. A good man died, aw shlt, no, no... Mercenary work has always come with that risk. I can only go back 30 years personally, and all my knowledge is second-hand; I have buried a few I knew and seen quite a few more move on to other venues. I hesitate to use this as an occasion to politicize, but one must ask, why is it that the the "high risk, high reward" game is so easily sold in the U.S. these days? Is America so desperate that they must sacrifice their best to insure that fat old men on life support systems retire honorably? The latter seems doubtful to me, fat old men should be easily expendable. And they are.
