I know you're joking but that's exactly what ex-secretary of state Lawrence Eagelman was saying this afternoon; "We need to put them down."

It's strange how stupid actions in history keep repeating. I was reading a book on Vietnam and there was a quote from McNamera in it. He said words to the effect of, "we can't afford to lose in Vietnam and we'll see this through to the end. We will not fail."

I guess some believe our actions in another country create a one sided affair where we get to decide how it will end. The reality is that there is always a point of pain where one makes a new plan, even if it means the old plan failed. If we see that there is no good ending in sight on the path Bush has chosen to follow in Iraq, then we'll make a change that may involve turning around and heading the other direction. Only fools rush all the way over the cliff and time and experience usually shine the light on fools and foolishness.
