Interesting, isn't it, how AS persists in referring to "Cheney-Bush's corrupt tax code." Last I heard, it was the "Internal Revenue Code of 1986," which was a revision of the "Internal Revenue Code of 1954," which in turn was a revision of an earlier version.

Kerry has apparently read "Perfectly Legal" and was outraged. It is an expert book about the hidden tricks in the tax code which benefit the very richest people, and stick it to the middle class and even those "only" making $500,000 a year. Some of these tricks were already there, but Cheney-Bush are maximizing them and trying to make them permanent. This results in tens of billions in lost revenue per year and a gradual dumping of more and more burden on those who are not wealthy. Tax code by the rich for the rich, in other words.

The real gifts of the Cheney-Bush plan are at the very top. Everyone else gets peanuts. Kerry will change that ASAP when he gets into power. He will also close loopholes which allow corps to actually get US taxpayers to pay for out-sourcing or moving overseas.

$200,000 per year is fairly rich. If you have kids you get to deduct them. A single person with no deductions making 200 K a year is quite wealthy. You can afford to put aside 50 K a year or more unless you are a big spender. But most of the JK cut roll-backs will be affecting those making much more than 200 K power year, primarily those making millions and tens of millions per year. They are the ones who've been getting a "free" ride from Cheney-Bush, all deficit "spending" by the way.
