The election isn't about charisma now it's about 7-9 battleground states. If Kerry can win just one of these states he wins the election; Florida, Missouri, Ohio.
Or a combo of New Hampshire, Nevada, West Virginia, Arkansas, Arizona. Any major battleground state or any 1-2 small battleground states plus hanging onto the Gore states from 2000. Therefore, on paper at least Richardson is the best choice followed by Bill Nelson from Florida.
Eiother one wins you Florida plus Richardson secures New Mexico and probably gets you Arizona and Nevada. The other way to go is with Wesley Clark and try to nail down Arkansas. McCain is the wild card. Bayh, Edwards, Warner and even Biden are all very attractive strong candidates.
Gephardt gets him Missouri and helps in Ohio and West Virginia. Kerry has a wealth of possibilities.

Probably AS is correct...............the one that will give Kerry the best possibility of winning additional electoral votes is the best choice................the question is which one?

An option that one TV pundit brought up is that a Governor would be a better candidate than another Senator. There is a Governor or former GOv of Penn that was an interesting possibility but I can't remember his name. Richardson may be good too though I have to admit I don't know much about him.

A Governor gives more balance to the ticket than another Senator. The VP will have to be a Democrat from one of the swing states I would think. However, look at the CLinton Gore pairing............both from southern states that were geographically close to each other.

Whoever Kerry picks, I hope it is someone who can win in Republican areas.
