I agree but also forgive all the debt given to Saddam by France, Russia and others for his palaces and weapons.

The only problem I see with your post is that the religious clerics are not likely to give up any power and that's the real issue. They have "used" the US blunders to mobilize. It's very smart actually but cynical.

How do you stop that?

Sistani, Sadr et al - with Kerry as President - unlikely to agree to power sharing with others. How about oil wealth in Kurd controlled areas?

These are the issues I would love to see Kerry develop. It's not complicated. If I can deal with it and offer proposals, certainly Kerry can. The problem is that he is a typical politician and doesn't want to open himself to criticism.
