I don't see any perjury here. Instead I see that the Administration failed to gage the gravity of the threat, Dr. Rice characterized it the way she did. someone else characterized it otherwise.

I think this story has been beaten to death. The facts are out there for people to see and judge for themselves and vote according to how they judge it.

AS, you may judge this as perjury. To me it reinforced my image of Bush and others in the Administration as those who do not take things seriously. Of course there is even a worse crowd out there which is Cheney-Rumsfeld-Wolfowitz. They are crooks. That is what concerns me the most, that is what frightens me the most too. These crooks manipulate events and lie to the American public and then send young men and women off to war, put those lives in harms way. I would prefer they lie about whom they sleep with than lie on such issues.

I think this is a sensible column in a South African Newspaper.

So this is free Baghdad

Long before I arrived at the Iraq frontier I was thoroughly alarmed. On our 320km desert drive through Jordan, my driver, Ziad, wound me up. "Near Baghdad," he said, "many Ali Baba! Three hundred kilometres, very bad!" The previous night, waiting at Heathrow for a long-delayed plane to Amman, I'd seen the news: four unarmed Americans killed driving through the Iraqi town of Falluja, hacked to bits and displayed like something out of Zola's Germinal. We would be passing close to Falluja.

If that 8-6 memo isn't a warning I don't know what is. What do they have to give Bush and Rice, a map showing him exactly where and when Al Qaida will strike? Even after this memo and many other warnings, neither Rice Nor Bush or Cheney ever mentioned terrorism prior to 9-11. Rice didn't even have it in the speech on national security she was going to deliver on 9-11. Amazing. Our #1 threat and they totally ignored it. Richard Clarke has a right to be pissed off and so does every American, especially seeing Bush traipse around in flight suits pretending to be the great warror against terror. He was AWOL. He deserves court martial not re-election.
