I'm a veteran who served overseas. Whether Bush was AWOL while in the reserves is subject to dispute. However, it is FACT that he checked the box indicating that he would not volunteer for overseas duty during Vietnam.

If he won't go, who should? His answer was obviously that others, but not him should serve.

Also--it is simplistic to treat veterans as a voting block. Some are heroic, some not, some rich, most not, some educated etc. While serving, there were few things we agreed about.
