I wouldn't say unreasonable. Inconsistent would be the term I use. I'd also add that its easy to Quarterback from the bench after the fact. I'd have done this or I'd have done that doesn't really matter. Kerry voted for action and then voted against funding the action after our troops were in harms way. IMO it would have been better just to vote against the action in the first place.

You're out of context. Kerry voted against the funding because Bush did not keep his word to Kerry to get the UN and a broad coalition of nations involved with us.

Bush saying he was against nation building, and then embarking this nation on one of the largest nation building efforts in history does not make sense.

It makes even less sense since Saddam was not involved with 9-11 or in league with bin Laden.

I can't conclude that either way. It's too early to tell. Since we started the action in Afghanistan and moved on to Iraq there have been no events in the US. That may or may not last but its way too early to say we're less safe now. Soon we'll have OBL hanging from the end of a rope and that will help matters a lot.

There have been no events in the US yet, but there have been at least a dozen Al Qaeda bombings around the world, including Madrid. The US is still a target, and there are cells operating in the US now. They are waiting to do something big, and they are patient. I pray that we will find them out and stop them, but I think that they will attack again. If not in the US next they will attack in Europe or Africa again, then when we least expect it, they will unleash against the US.

Clearly we cannot say that we are safer from a terrorist attack, and that diverting efforts from Al Qaeda to Iraq have made us safer. That's like saying we're safe from the snake because we shot the bear. All the while the snake is still hiding in the grass.
