I find those posts as offensive and non-moderate as you do, on the left and the right. That's why I usually post items of interest and refrain from debating people who standards for political debate don't even rise to a high school level, much less serious analysis. JMHO - some folks probably think I am full of crap, too. I don't lose any sleep over anything political on SI. Nowhere near worth the effort.

I'm no apologist for the left leaning Jew-haters. But at least they can't help but reveal themselves. Now as for the right ones, and by that I mean that bulwark forty percent of Bush's support that have an insidious belief all their own....(Think Ashcroft!) Well..a lot of the group (going to Mel's movie) follows a strange, but NOT so uncommon variation of protestant Christianity which portends that rapture is imminent. These followers (Think Ashcroft!) support Israel only from their belief that it is God's Will to use the state to promote the second coming. I'll put it this way; it seems that they don't think the God hates ALL Jews. Just before the end, a few "faithful" or “Jewish saints” get to convert. The rest join with all us liberals, moderates and everyone else "left" behind to burn in hell (and I don't mean Texas!) (1) Well, as always, there is disagreement among zealots, see (2). There is a difference between the one side that runs around foaming at the mouth and the other, with which you can break bread and only catch them nodding at one another out of the corner of your eye. As you've noted, you can give the first group drugs...but the Bush and Ashcroft crowd think of any peace in the Middle east as being brokered by the anti-christ. No wonder they slouch towards Megiddo!
