Who's fault is that? As you say cutting and running is not a good option at this point. We stepped into a bucket of shit, and now the bucket is stuck on our foot. I could see this coming from the get go. Bush I saw the quagmire we'd be getting into. Bush II listened to idiots like Cheney, Perle and Wolfowitz...each one with no real combat experience. Chicken hawks every one of them. What do we do? We do what we should have done in the first place. Make this an international concern, which it is. We need to get the UN and NATO involved. Amazingly we do not have any Arab countries involved. In 1991 the Allied coalition consisted of 34 countries, including Afghanistan, Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Honduras, Italy, Kuwait, Morocco, The Netherlands, Niger, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, South Korea, Spain, Syria, Turkey, The United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States. Please note that we had 12 moderate Arab governments on board in 1991. We need to bring these Arab nations into the process in Iraq. I'm dumbfounded that this has not been done...and done from the get go. Many nations need to come together now for the Iraqi people. For the fight against terror, which has now been transplanted to Iraq courtesy of Bush. For the chance of democracy to emerge in Iraq it can no longer be the Americans dictating the policy in Iraq. We need a broad coalition to bring democracy to Iraq. Imagine the Americans shutting down a newspaper, but at the same time saying that democracy means freedom of speech? What is clearly needed is a coming together of all nations in the region along with the UN and NATO for the good of the Iraqi people. Put an end to the gravy train contracts for the friends of Bush and Cheney. The Iraqi people are fully capable of building their own democracy...we need to let them do that. Provide assistance monetarily and in an advisor role. Unemployment in Iraq is near 40%...let the Iraqi people get the jobs of rebuilding the country. Iraqis know how to design and build...they have great engineers too. Hard working people that can do for themselves...get Haliburton out of there tomorrow. In short the solution lies in bringing in the help of many nations. Providing full employment for every Iraqi citizen that wants to work. At first this may be government jobs rebuilding the infrastructure. Keep non Iraqi work force to a minimum. Putting people to work will keep them from picking up a Kalishnikof. Give them work and dignity and food and freedom. Orca
