Since you bring it up, here is what I have been puzzling over. You all remember the Gulf War and how the Shias attempted to rise up against Saddam and were slaughtered by the THOUSANDS. We stood by, our troops helpless to aid them as orders were orders and we had allowed fixed wing aircraft into that airspace. Well, NOW we are there, we have eliminated the Baathist govt. Why dont these Shias rise up and defend us and their country against the thugs and terrorists? Everyone knows I support this excursion into Iraq and believe the goal is a worthy one, but I really do wonder why we are not getting FANATICAL type help from the Iraqi's. Could it be they figure we will do it alone if they stand aside? If so then Bush is ABSOLUTELY correct in pushing this 6/30 turnover date. jdn
