Pay particular attention to the latter 1/3 of the long article, which covered US actions in the UN

Sure.. I'll take a look at it the next time I see a copy..

But I hope you'll take some time to research the role the French, Russians, and Germans played in preventing the UNSC from enforcing over 17 binding resolutions DEMANDING Saddam come into compliance and abide by the terms of the cease-fire that ended Desert Storm and gave him the chance to preserve his regime intact.

The US had 9 nations (more than a simple majority) willing to vote to enforce 1441 and all the other resolutions pertaining to Iraq. But France and Russia threatened to use their permanent vetoes in order to protect their selfish interests in supporting Saddam's regime in place.

Here's a draft of that proposed resolution:

casi.org.uk

And their milquetoast response, which echoes all of the previous "this is your final and very last chance to peacefully come into compliance.. At least until we give you your next last chance":

un.int

They were certainly more than willing to keep 190,000 CPA troops couped up in their desert encampments, the summer heat and blinding dust storms be damned... Especially when they didn't have any troops on the ground to personally participate in enforcing any refusal to abide by their "demand" that Iraq cooperate.

And they were certainly more than willing to cover up their double dealings with regard to the UN oil for food program.. Especially Chirac.

Did Vanity Fair discuss any of those points?

Did it discuss the hundreds of billions in lucrative oil contracts that French and Russian oil companies stood to earn from keeping Saddam in power?

And I believe the REAL threat to peace and prosperity on this planet are people like yourself who go out of their friggin' way to blame the US for every problem in this world.

And such an attitude is just what corrupt and totalitarian regimes are counting on in order to deflect blame for their problems onto the US.

If you're an American, I suggest you move to the middle east, where you're fit right in.

Hawk
