Sounds kind of nutty to me, but I am open to hear how he did this. Back in 1948, when the UN granted Israel statehood, only a portion of Palestine was to go to the Zionists. The rest was to be the basis for a Palestinian state. Ever since, the Israelis have been chopping away at those boundaries. Then in the 80s when Sharon was Housing Minister......yes the same Ariel Sharon.......he began to build settlements in the WB and Gaza. Understand it wasn't because Israel proper was short of land.........this was an out and out land grab. Besides, the WB sits on top of a huge water aquifer.......water is like gold in the ME and Israel is very short of water. Bush's recent announcement reverses over 50 years of American policy which stated the Israeli settlements both in the WB and Gaza are illegal and must be dismantled. His announcement was tantamount to say France claiming that the Lousiana Purchase was an illegal transaction and they want the Midwest back. No good will come of Bush's change in direction! And it further solidifies Muslim hate towards the US. The Muslims are not going away......they number over 1 billion people and they occupy over 1/3 of the earth's land mass. "I don't condone the Palestinians BS but then I don't condone the Israelis' either." We have different views here. I do condone the Israelis. When you have been attacked by folks with their stated goal of ILIMINATING Israel, you can fight back pretty hard in my book. I guess you would just turn the other cheek and whither away and die, right? First, do you think the Palestinians attacked first? You need to go back in history when the Zionists first entered Palestine. They came with money and ready to fight. But what's most interesting during this latest Israeli and Palestinian Jihad, three times as many Palestinians have been killed as Israelis. If the Palestinians are so destructive, how come so many more of they are dying? Just as the American colonists fought the Brits so do the Palestinians fight the Israelis.......both wanted their independence. "Let Israel survive on its own......" Sounds like you don't care whether they make it or not. I have no problem with the concept of supporting your friends. Another area where we are different, it appears. Israel is a developed country....first world and a regional superpower.......why should we continue to subsidize them?
