Bush isn't on a par with fifth grade debaters. I mean that literally. I saw Kerry answer questions on the Today Show recently. Nothing stumped him, and he hadn't been prepared for the questions beforehand, nor did he need a telepromptor nor someone feeding him answers. He knows what is going on, he reads, he understands issues - the diametric opposite of Bush. Debates between the two will be a slam-dunk win for Kerry while Bush stands around waiting for something to pop into his empty head. Maybe wingers can relate to Bush's dyslexia, his inability to answer questions - so they think - "Wow, he's just like we are" - too dumb to run this country.
