Searle, sometimes I feel like I am sticking my nose into areas that I am quite ignorant of but never-the-less, SA has always been an area of interest to me because of the character and determination of the Dutch settlers who came to South Africa and hammered out prosperity and rule despite the hundreds of thousands of warrior black africans like the Zulu who opposed them.

It reminds me of the original settlers to America who was fleeing from oppression and eventually conquered the Indian tribes who was also considered savages. I always regret that the more educated always see others as savages who must be relegated to an inferior class. But, perhaps it is my age and my nice, comfortable little world that I fear others might ruffle who seem to be instigators of change.
Just some of my thoughts...

James

There was a time when the Africaners saw themselves a minority but righteous nation, dwelling in the promised land, surrounded by a great sea of unwashed black people whose only wish was to take land and power away from them. Just like Israel which is surrounded by Arab nations whose stated goal has always been to take back Jerusalem and drive the Israelis out.

Was there not a kind of close actual relationship with Israel Searle, or am I drawing too long a bow?
