Both sides are doing things that are unacceptable to the other - Palestinian terrorism on Israeli civilians, and Israel's occupation on all Palestinians. Both need to stop and the same time. Asking Palestinians to stop their "resistance" before Israeli tanks and soldiers pull out from the occupied territories is not fair.

So... ceasefire, if you will.

Then negotiations can begin. The recent Geneva Accord, on which both Palestinians AND Israelis agreed, can serve as blueprint for an agreement. Palestinians give up right of return. Israel, in return, dismantles all but a couple of important settlements, their equivalent in land it gives to Palestinians elsewhere. Etc etc.

Then Palestinians have their own country and Israelis have theirs. They stay out of their hair for a long long time until the bitterness fades.

I can also agree that most of the settlements should be removed, but since there is only 7 miles from the West Bank to the sea in mid Israel, how can you make sure that both sides can live safely?

And increasing that distance by occupying an entire nation and their territory is making Israel safer... how?

Besides, with all the aid it gets from US per year, Israel can, if it wants to, install super-duper surveillance systems on every meter of the border to their heart's desire.

The issue is, really, not Israel's need for security. It is Israel's need for land.

Is there any other explanation for the settlements that mushroomed over the years?
