are the specifications and/or driver source code available for the card he talks about? Why don't you email the author of that article and ask him? manufacturers often tell MS how to write drivers but refuse to disclose the information publicly (for competitive reasons etc). This is likely the reason (that OSS developers refuse to sign an NDA, say) there is no support for certain hardware. If what you assert here is accurate, then it's certainly a negative issue for the open source concept.
