yes, i know there's a ton of questions left to ask.yes, i can see the WAP and router from my pc and they both have the same ssid. i'll have to check the channel setting. he is about 150 ft away from the WAP. he cannot see the ssid broadcast id. i believe the card is linksys WMP54G. i ha the same thought about win98 being compatible with the card. but, there were instructions for win98se with the card.WEP is turned off at the moment. I'm not filtering mac addresses at the moment either. i was using the setup disk to configure the card.

tonight when i get home (after thinking about this), i'll get on his computer and ping his card (assuming i can find the ip address). if it pings, then i'll type the ip into IE and see if i can configure his card that way.

the win98 still might be the major issue here though.
