Kerry bids to regain momentum with new ad blitz
news.yahoo.com

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) launched a major television ad campaign as he sought to reignite his drive for the White House and slow down a surging President George W. Bush (news - web sites).

Campaign officials unveiled two 30-second spots they were airing in 17 "battleground" states in the November 2 election, calling it their mostly expensive media buy so far. They would not specify the cost.

Both ads show close-ups of the Massachusetts senator talking directly into the camera. In one he speaks of homeland security, jobs, education and health care; the other focuses on his plan to bring in more international help for Iraq (news - web sites).

Campaign manager Mary Beth Cahill told reporters the spots would be "the first two in what will be a series of ads (to) emphasize John Kerry's clear strategy to win the peace in Iraq and his plan to rebuild America."

WASHINGTON - The nation's oceans are steadily degrading because of pollution, overfishing and jumbled management, a 16-member ocean policy commission reported Tuesday, and it recommended a sweeping government effort to combat the trend.
"Our oceans and coasts are in trouble," said retired Adm. James Watkins, a former energy secretary who is heading the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy, appointed by President Bush.

"We will conserve and protect natural resources all over America because we all have a stake in acting as stewards of our environment," Kerry said.

Does that include the four national parks in Nevdada?? LOL!!

reviewjournal.com

EDITORIAL: Where's Nevdada

President Bush took a little heat locally a few months back when he mispronounced "Nevada," making the common mistake of drawing out the "a" into an "ahh."

So what to make of a breathless cut-and-paste press release put out by the John Kerry campaign on Tuesday charging George W. Bush with endangering Silver State children through his environmental policies?

"new earth day report details bush's devastating impact on the health and safety in NEVDADA" is the header.

(In addition, we learn that "4 national parks in Nevada are in danger because the President has not provided adequate funding for maintenance." Of course, Nevada has just one national park.)
