James > As much as I want Bush out, we may be trading our present screw-up for a much bigger one.

Which is exactly what the Establishment wants you to think. That's why there isn't any any real opposition --- the Democrats are, as you say, just as bad, or even worse, than the present lot and, in fact, the "bipartisan" Congress, whoever is there, will go along with whatever is going down, lies and all. Perhaps the best thing is not to vote, like most Americans did last time, and allow W to be elected by the program in the Diebold voting machines or else appointed by the Supreme Court.

As they say, if voting could change anything it would be illegal.

I just don't think it matters at all. Bush or Kerry. Kerry = Bush inspite of their vocal protestations.

James > The United Nations and France were dealing with Saddam for under the table cheap oil which enriched them handsomely while starving the Iraqi people

Things may not be what they seem. This article indicates that this apparent revelation may simply be another neocon lie designed to disparage those who were opposed to the Iraq war.

onlinejournal.com

>>>The list, ostensibly taken from Saddam Hussein's government's archives, is said to contain the names of 270 former government officials, legislators, political activists and journalists from more than 46 countries who are accused of personally profiting from oil money garnered by Saddam Hussein as part of the United Nations food-for-oil deal.

But the list was almost simultaneously translated and published on the web site of the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), a tax-exempt operation run from a Washington, DC, post office box. Not surprisingly, MEMRI also maintains offices in Jerusalem and London. MEMRI's "contributions" to the news media have, not surprisingly, been only cited in neocon media outlets such as the New York Sun, The Weekly Standard, New York Post, Fox News, Wall Street Journal, Sunday Times of London, World Net Daily, Washington Times, and UPI. In fact, very little is known about Al-Mada, and the fact that it could be a neocon-owned newspaper doing the propaganda work of its masters in Washington and Jerusalem cannot be entirely ruled out.<<<

Re: Looks like a big corruption warming up in the bullpen with the Iraqi oil for food program.

You are just the sort of sucker for a red herring that a master swindler like Karl Rove loves to play like a fiddle.

Surely, you must see through this thinly veiled bait-and-switch?

The trivial amounts of skimming that occurred during the UN Oil-For-Food program pale in comparison to the rake-offs that Halliburton, Bechtel and the Rent-a-Mercenary shops are making today.

Keep your eye on the ball, not on Rove's shell game, sonny.
