Is this perhaps where some of this open anger or what I call the "new phenomenon of hatred in America" originates? This is were it is solved. Those of us here are about three years ahead of the average Internet user, IMO. As more and more people come to the Internet for news, the old media becomes less and less a factor. The lies and misinformation on the net by bloggers gets corrected so fast that the ones that want to make a name for themselves get more and more careful about their facts.

I've come to realize that we have had our own little brand of politburo right here in America for quite some time. I find it potentially encouraging that various news outlets are cleaning house, getting rid of outright frauds. It seems to me that this may be due to the bloggers, who en masse cannot be beat for reporting firstist and fastest. And a lot of bloggers are professionals in their own right. All the traditional news outlets have to offer anymore that the blogs don't have is fact-checking and editing.

Well said M. Keep in mind that these people have lived in a cocoon with like minded elite editors & journalists. Not only are they used to framing the issues & debates, they have been able to stifle all dissenting views out of the public eye. They have convinced themselves that they are objective, fair, balanced & most importantly, moderate. And as most reasonable folks know, having to face cold hard facts that stand in stark contrast with your world view is generally not met willingly or amicably. :-\|
