And now in the year 2004 it is time to get Indians off the reserves and into regular society as functioning Canadians.
End the Indian industry toute d'suite.
We should end the First Nations crapola too.

Now, see, you're focusing on the 19th century experience in Western North America.

What about the Native American experience from 1492 up until the Trail of Tears? That's about 350 years that go unmentioned. As does one entire continent (South America), one subcontinent (Central America) and the entire Caribbean.

Why?

Some historians hypothesize that once the Indians were vanquished, we felt comfortable romanticizing the ones which are left. That seems reasonable.
