From a military standpoint I agree with you, if we want to win the war we need to get back to the Powell doctrine and respond to threats with overwhelming force.

Personally I don't want us to win the war, I want to get out and let the Iraqis kill each other (or not, it's their choice). I don't think that winning the war is something we would look back on with pride 30 years from now. I doubt the British have many fond and happy memories of their occupation of Iraq.
