Loopholes are a terrible term. Tax law is created and is very specific. Politicians created the term too explain why exemptions exist to the tax hungry people. There is absolutely nothing wrong with following the tax laws, there is nothing dirty about that, it is by the very definition permissable by law. If one wants to pay more than the minimum required by law, they are always free to do so, but few do...

When you take a deduction on your house mortgage are you dodging taxes? No, that exemption is permissable by law,...
I think you get the point. Tax loopholes is an abused term and really should not be used. We are more accurate discussing tax law, and asking if we are following the law.

Tax avoiders by law are doing nothing wrong. Tax evaders are breaking the law. They are what concerns our well being.

YOur point well taken about the analogy between taxes and Nam. But isn't tax loopholes that we are trying to do away with since people think that not only loopholes are bad but the people who take advantage of those loopholes are also not looked upon kindly. They are dodgers but not criminals and any society does not like dodgers.
