Mr. Wolfowitz faced some tough questioning from the House Appropriations Committee's republicans and democrats last week. The hearing is recorded in three parts on the Committee's site.

In addition to the $50 billion plus that is not in the budget request, it appears another $4 to $5 billion is needed and another several hundred million a month for an additional 20,000 soldiers. Let's just say another $50 to $100 billion for FY 2005. Not to worry. Just another 3 or 4 good debt auctions. Debt and spend, debt and spend, debt and spend, debt and spend . . . .

Correction:

I mentioned the wrong committee. It was the House Armed Services Committee.
