Insofar as the followers of Al- Sadr want to run a police state along the lines of Iran, I think it is close enough. If there were a generalized insurgency, I might (might) agree, but we are talking about a relative handful of troublemakers, who should not be allowed to muck things up for everyone else. If we do not make a reasonable attempt at pacification, at this point, we may as well invite terrorists to attack us, with the assurance that we do not have the heart to fight, regardless of our military superiority.........
