I don't think it's a question of having the heart to fight, rather having the heart to slaughter, which is what is really necessary to successfully put down an insurgency and keep it down.

If we decided to pacify Fallujah, we could cut through the insurgents like a sword cutting through daisies, at very little cost to ourselves.

In any case the Iraqi insurgents are doing a half-assed job so far, if they really wanted to hurt us, 100 of them would go on a hunger strike and starve themselves to death.

As Americans learn that the real issue here is for Iraqi's to decide which of the mullahs will be running Iraq next year there will be many more in the US who ask why we shed so much blood to turn Iraq into the next illiberal theocracy.
