"Is Jesus confirming their notion, or correcting it?"

As a Christian-Zionist you, of course, "it is for you to know the times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority". Chrsitian-Zionist have collaborated with the antichrist Talmudic Zionist to forcibly colonize Palestine through murder and thievery. Now you will like scriptural confirmation of your evil foul deeds but there's none.

Jesus's answer was good enough for the Apostles but not for you Christian-Zionist cultists who have itchy ears.
The fact that Jesus's answer was coupled by a command to wait in Jerusalem for the Day of Pentecost so the Apostles could receive the promised gift of the Holy Spirit.

In the eyes of Ziochristian fundamentalists, the gift of the Holy Spirit of God is not that important compared to their desire for a "sacred worldly kingdom" where their racial Jewish idols can rule the world.

"You have not adequately explained Jesus' answer "

Yes, I adequately explained but the scriptural answer doesn't fit with your Ziochristian heretical beliefs.
This is precisely what the antichrist Pharisees responded to Jesus also. Jesus's answer was inadequate because it did not fit with their carnal desire for a worldly geographical kingdom that would honor the pride of men rather than glorify God and spiritual edify mankind.

Again, the scriptures tells us that "the Kingdom of God is meat and drink, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost". God's kingdom is unattractive to the ziochristian mindset.
