Hawk, you're raising the issues of whether we were "honestly fooled" and whether, if we were, our bad information justified our invasion and occupation. You're also raising the issue of whether, at this time, none of that matters and we should be trying to salvage whatever we can from the Iraqi occupation.

In many ways I agree. If this weren't an election year I'd be more in tune with that thinking. It is, however, an election year and I think that getting fooled to such an extent that we bought the whole story on wmds, invading on that basis, failing to understand or plan for the likely consequences of our invasion and occupation, failing to garner the support of the U.N. and most of the world, and now refusing to fess up that there were no wmds that required an invasion and occupation, are ALL relevant to whether we should allow these people 4 more years.

It's not just about honesty in leadership, it's also about competency in leadership. I see dishonesty and incompetency and that's central to the presidential election. If we're in charge we must evaluate the performance of those we "hire" and that's why these things are important.
