God, you and I are so much alike. I too started about that age on BP medicine. However, I have no ringing nor any other adverse symptom that I am aware of. I also eat ham or bacon and eggs for breakfast every morning. In fact I am perpetually on a modified Atkins Diet. My cholestrol is very low couple weeks ago I was tested it was 118 total, 83LDL and 29 HDL. The low level of the HDL is cause I smoke which lowers the good cholestrol. I take a mild dose of Lipitor but I also take a lot of Alternative medicines.
Getting back to the ringing, I presume you have reported this to your doctor?? IMHO there is no reason for any adverse effects there are now SO MANY different BP medicines available. jdn

My ringing was diagnosed as caused by a virus. It was accompanied by a sudden hearing loss. I had just had a bad case of the flu before it happened. As you say, you learn to live with the ringing and to compensate for a lack of directionality of sound as well.

If the ringing isn't from the medicine, why do you associate it with the medicine???? FYI,a primary source of ringing comes on as you age and lose high frequency hearing...
