Thursday April 29, 8:42 pm ET

HONG KONG, April 30 (Reuters) - China's central bank will raise the nation's commercial bank lending rates by half a percentage point after the week-long holiday starting on May 1, the South China Morning Post quoted banking sources as saying.
The People's Bank of China also informed banks it was considering a 0.25 percentage point rise in the deposit rate, the paper said on Friday.

A spokesman for the central bank in Beijing declined to comment.
