LOL. I'm not somebody with a yen to keep up with the Joneses in the toy department. I have some alpha stuff--where it matters to me. I just today bought a new alpha bed to replace my old alpha bed. Also have some behindthetimes stuff, where it doesn't matter. SI is quite peppy on dial-up, no noticeable wait. The Post home page takes an annoying ten or twelve seconds to load, but subsequent pages take maybe five seconds. I'm retired. At my pace, that doesn't seem long. I reflect a few seconds between pages. I would probably pause and reflect even if the paging were faster.

Dial up here too. Can't justify the added expense.

<i. I would have bet that everybody here was DSL/Cable.

We've had Comcast for internet access for ages, and love it. We even tried VOIP using Vonage, but it didn't work out. The sound quality was great at first, but after a while the connection would drop every now and then during a conversation, and the sound quality deteriorated. Vonage and Comcast pointed fingers at each other as to whose problem it was so we said the heck with it. Back to Verizon.
