Your point is false. Have you ever read an actually history book that covers the periods you are talking about? If you had, you would find out that many military campaigns, e.g. the Arab expansion in the 7th century, the Mongol expansion of the 11th and 12th century, the Viking expansions of the 9th - 11th centuries, left a permanent mark on the world, for good or ill, and changed the course of civilizations. Their campaigns did not "fail", either in the short or long run, unless by "fail" you mean that none of them conquered the entire world.

Asia Minor and North Africa used to be centers of the Christian world, you know. Or actually, you clearly don't know.
