Laz, you could've just posted your comments here, since there's really no need for yet another board.

>>It sounds like ALL your aliases will be available now!

I think your interpretation of Bob's comments is in error. I don't think we can list all past (relative to now) aliases. There's some loose linkage in one of the Oracle [PeopleSearch] indexes, but it's not an exact science and is definitely not all inclusive. There's also an entry in the admin notes, but that's not available to the members.

If we are going to allow widespread alias changes in the new UI, it seems entirely reasonable that there be some alias history provided from the next change forward. Perhaps there could be a provision to remove the alias change history record in certain cases... particularly where a real name was used.

Also, one always has the option of starting a new account if they want to completely break ties with past posting activities and/or identification....

Geez, what an over-reaction!

Have you ever known me to make a major change without listening to feedback about it? You make it sound like it's set in stone that I'm going to do something horrible, consequences be damned!

I admit that it needs further thinking/tweaking before implementing. Hell, I haven't even written the first line of code yet to allow searching on previous aliases. Right now it just searches on current aliases, which is a far cry better than what the current version does.
