To: Jamey who wrote (37166 ) 5/3/2004 2:22:42 AM From: Berry Picker Respond to of 39621 Hi James - I read a post tonight that seems to be addressing the following words of Christ... Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Jesus taught that even He - although God - did not know the exact day or hour. However He did tell those who hear him to pray as recorded here: Matthew 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: Many people take the idea that Christ confessed not knowing the day or hour as a teaching that Christ was clueless as to when He would return. That is insane and flies in the face of what He plainly stated in other verses Christ taught His hearers to pray that the return would be in summer and not on the sabbath. Better to sleep outside in summer :-) Jesus also taught without a doubt He would return within a generation; Luke 21:32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. So while Christ taught that the exact day and hour were unknown He also taught that it would happen within a generation. That is not an unreasonable thing to say about things. Consider pregnancy - we do not know the exact day or hour but we can say with certainty the baby will be born within a year. Christ did not teach He was clueless about His return - quite the contrary - He even told Caiaphas that he would live to see Him return in the Father's Glory: Matthew 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Jesus told Caiaphas - who was busy judging Him - that he would live to see Christ return in Judgement against Him and their temple. The day and hour was unknown - but the time of the end was near. Jesus plainly taught this in this parable - who can deny this truth: Luke 20:8 And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. 9 ¶ Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time. 10 And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty. 11 And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty. 12 And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out. 13 Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him. 14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. 15 So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them? 16 He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid. And again Jesus warned them: Matthew 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. The time of the end is the end of Israel as a special people. Not the end of the world - Cosmos. That end was 70 AD - what is called Israel today is an anti-christ nation - they teach that they are the people of God apart from Christ. That is another Gospel: Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Emile - although always attacked as anti-semitic - has boldly proclaimed just how accursed Israel really is even to this day - they killed the vineyard owners son and still they never repent nor can they bring forth fruits.
