Do you really believe all the promises politicians make? Did you believe the Bush admin when it said it would create 2,800,000 jobs by the next election? When a politician says something that is patently absurd, why should I believe it? "Our country is committed to help the Iraqis build a stable, peaceful and pluralistic society. No matter who is elected president in November, we will persevere in that mission" Bush has made similar statements, and both he and Kerry are lying. First, our country is not committed to building a stable and peaceful pluralistic society in Iraq, if we were, we'd have 300,000 troops over there. We are committed to Iraq only to the extent that the adventure does not prove so painful, in terms of lives or dollars, that US public opinion turns strongly against it. The minute 60% of the nation disapproves of the war, we will bail. Second, building such a society in Iraq is almost certainly impossible, the chance of success is so small as to not be worthy of consideration. I don't see the virtue in blinding yourself to the truth.
