What strategic interest does the USA have in Sudan? So we are not an almighty and benevolent nation. Our vital national interests are tied to the security of oil flow from the Persian Gulf.

Liberating Iraq is not primarily a humanitarian mission I agree.

>> Is the problem that Sudan is not sitting on a large oil reserve? ...........

They should float a rumor about large stock-piles of wmd in Sudan. That will get Cheney's fever going. Or maybe they can hire a PR firm to plant internet stories about Sudan sponsorship of WTC attacks. Osama Bin laden lived in Sudan for several years. How come the admin isn't going after them ?

Oh, I forgot. Sudan is now a partner in the war on terror.

No it isn't on a large oil reserve. And I agree, the US isn't in Iraq for humanitarian reasons. The Sudan situation is indeed dreadful.

People everywhere will have to work through the Human Rights organizations, I guess. Seems the US can't, and shouldn't, be everywhere. People don't seem to be thankful that the US does come in to help militarily. So why should the US do so?

At this point, maybe France or Germany can be of some help. Surely the anti-war folks will be able to provide some help. They seem to have all the answers. (no pun)
