Bush will put the country through all kinds of humiliation just to avoid the 1000 troops killed mark before the elections.

Ironically, this exposes our troops to all kinds of danger and Bush might "achieve" the 1000 mark even sooner than he would have otherwise. But he doesn't care one way or the other, as long as he can get elected in November....

Saleh will not be in charge.

The brigade likely will be led by Mohammed Latif, a former intelligence officer who was expelled from the country by Hussein's government, the official said.

Furthermore this brigade has not been supplied completely with guns, uniforms or boots. I doubt they will take any offensive actions until they are ready. Also, there is an internal resistance group that seems to be active, killing Fallujah militia in the last few days. Sniper teams of Iraqis have been trained and will be deployed.

The short of it, the Marines aren't leaving. They are just following their plan of not having another ....Grozny, where the Russians destroyed the whole town, yet the Chechens were still fighting.

Eventually the plan is that Iraq's army will have a Kurd at the head with a Shia and Sunni as top advisors.
