Hello Dave, <<the "objection" pertains to posts that contain partisan political rhetoric (i.e. ideological agenda)>>

... is perhaps too broad, as just about any and everything, in tone, nuance, and/or flavor can be attributed to ideological agenda, of one sort or another variety, by imagination or otherwise.

Regarding the riff-raffs and nuisance posters, at least on this BBR thread, we have so far done an adequate job of maintaining a semblance of order, in our own way, believing that the keyboard is mightier than a fist in the face, however much we may like to mangle someone’s neck until their eyeballs pop out.

I for one enjoy the opportunity to raise some folk’s blood pressure across time zones and through cyber space. I think of it as a sport ;0) Yes, I admit it, being naughty is fun. Take away the fun, then part of the enjoyment is lost, and only work is left.

I think folks are free to put other folks on Ignore, but I do not believe and would advise folks against instituting a system/procedure of SI officiated banning against politics, partisan or otherwise, that, if defined and implemented, would in time destroy SI dynamics, whittle down contributions, decrease usefulness, as SI participants become even less representative of the real world than the cyber unreality it already is.

In my view, SI is not only an arena to discuss issues narrowly defined by thread titles, but is a microcosm of society by which we can at least sense the sentiments that may be out there somewhere, anywhere, that should be allowed to influence, in however and whichever a way, our own views.

SI need not go in the direction that the real world is trending.

I figure politics (partisan/otherwise) is the art (or fraud) of redistributing economic lucre, which in turn ought to impart momentum to financial markets, the arena of taking, and it at least ought to impact decisions regarding the next big picture moves in the Financial markets.

I am still keenly interested in doing anything that would give Boxer Message 19992268 his privilege on SI, even if just limited to CFZ and/or BBR threads. Do you see a way to allow Boxer an opportunity to return from exile? And if yes, what precisely does he need to do?

Chugs, Jay

Dave,
It looks like your action/warning is due to some one complaining to you about the tone of some of the posters. Is my observation correct? Or is it self initiated? I thought your "ignore feature" is there to deal with people whom we don't want to engage. Even with well defined rules and laws in our society we have been giving millions of lawyers a better average income than other professions. If so how do we precisely define what is black and what is white? If there is shade of grey to what level do we tolerate. If it is subjective it always leads to abuse.

I think we are all matured enough to judge and deal with it.
