You have an interesting name. Italian? You don't have to tell me, but I'll tell you that mine derives from English and Welsh.

Here's where I'm at: I think everyone should learn English and at least one other language. Just because it's the mark of an educated person, if for no other reason.

I took Spanish in high school and although I am by no means conversant in it today, I've made many friends through the little that I do know. I admire people who know more than two languages and if I were smart enough and had the time I'd learn every language that I could.

The state where I just moved from, Alaska, had more native languages than any other. Some people are trying to preserve them, which I think is a very worthy endeavor. However, others decry the use of English, which I think is a huge mistake.
