You have heard some stories of what has been happening in South. So thought might like to hear what is happening. We get warning there is major attack planned by Moslem militant movement in south. Warning come from group of teenagers who say that some of those arrested last Thursday in connection with the torching of 13 public schools in the region, offered them money and drugs to attack police and army. We are told there will be simultaneous pre-dawn raids on 10 police outposts and a police station. Also attacks on military bases to seize weapons. Attackers were from the same group that stormed an Army camp in Narathiwat on January 4. . Haji is intention to start wide uprising in south for detachment of southern provinces. To make them into Moslem Pattani state. Most of people come from Moslem families in south but some come from over border in Malaysia. When two policemen came out to investigate, a 60-year-old man pulled out a long machete and slashed one of the officers while a young man attacked the other. Police shot them dead, but many other young men came from all directions to attack the police post and steal weapons, including an M-203 rifle/grenade launcher. All security forces move to sound of guns alerted other police officers. Police Sergeant Major Channarong Nooluen, one of the officers on duty, said after gunning down one attacker he swiftly turned his pistol at another raider armed with a machete as the youth broke into the booth. Ten minutes later, more than 100 police officers surrounded the restaurant. After a three-hour exchange of fire, another 17 bodies were found at the scene. Only one attacker was caught alive. Attacks are also launched on Ban Neang checkpoint Ta Se Military Operation Base in Muang district and Ba Ngoy Border Patrol Police base in Raman district. In Pattani were four simultaneous attacks on security posts around the province. A group of assailants, apparently on a weapons raid, attacks Mae Lan police station in Mae Lan district, killing one officer and injuring another. Twelve assailants are shot dead and two wounded in the clash. Two assailants are killed after they raid Koh Moh Kaeng checkpoint in Nong Chik district. Haji was screaming religious slogans, proclaiming "We are ready to die for God!" as they attacked outposts. By the time fighting is over 70 rebels were killed and 17 were arrested. Then voices heard inside the mosque speaking in a local Malay dialect, they say "All of us united ... shared ammunition among us ... we will fight to the death,". This OK is fine by us. By 0930 we get message. Deputy Prime Minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh say stand-off shall hold for while that we are not to storm the mosque. He said he would ask Muslim leaders to negotiate the insurgents' surrender and that food and water would be provided for the 32 armed men. But we also get word that Defence Minister Chettha Thanajaro say attacks were carried out by Muslim separatists, and they may have received assistance from abroad. Situation is confused we get contradicting orders. Remind me of time of October 6 1976 when have same thing. Many troops different commands no clear line of authority nobody quite know what to do. But hear haji is gathering reinforcements may come to rescue those in Mosque. By 1200 time is getting critical. Then General Pallop Pinmanee, deputy director of the Internal Security Operation Command, do very courageous thing. He say that situation on ground cannot wait then he give us order to storm the building. He said he had no choice but to act because haji might cause problems and more deaths. For this he is fired and ordered to leave the South immediately. But by then is all over. Final assault is carried out by infantry of Fourth Army. They bring up two 106 millimeter recoilless rifles on jeeps these blow open walls of mosque. They they storm the place, killing all the insurgents inside. By 1400 our boys have secured mosque cost them three dead eight wounded. Bodies of militants, all over place some badly dismembered. Moslem who joined the team inspecting the scene were taken aback by the sight of blood spilled on the Koran. Is tough. But Wae-umah Waedallah, chief of Tan Yong Lolo in charge of Krue Se, rushed into the mosque to inspect the 32 bodies. He did not recognise the dead, suggesting they might have come from other places. He say he think they want to die in the ancient Krue Se Mosque to send us a message about their beliefs that they are suicide insurgents willing to die near their God. He think they believe God or some magic power might protect them in the mosque. We find one woman alive she hide all the time haji is occupying mosque. Afternoon leader of Moslem community in ours Sawas Sumalyasak praise way Army handle situation at Mosque he say "The government did not rush to implement decisive action and exercised restraint after they waited for a long time for their surrender, in order to avoid bloodshed," he said on television broadcast. He say the mosque is an ancient mosque and anyone who goes there should not be causing harm, and should only be seeking religious solace. "The government tried to make them surrender but they fought back and they had to act to clean them out," he said. Our Prime Minister was granted an audience with His Most Gracious Majesty late in the night to update His Majesty about the situation in the South. While this happen, shots were fired at one police outpost and public rest-stop was torched in what appeared to be acts of revenge after the battle. By this morning haji casualties reach 108 dead five wounded 32 prisoner

Those politicians who spout that rhetoric have not yet accepted the jihad statement nor have they accepted that this is war. Sometimes it seems to me that we are in a timewarp of some sort...Some of us understand that we are at war....and others willingly put their head in the sand, and cover their ears, and continue carping about how terrible the US is.... I wonder what it will take for people to understand that the Muslim militant extremists have declared war on us.
